"Demokratyzm" Stalina ta ioho Kominternu [The "Democratism" of Stalin and his Comintern].

Saskatoon: Nakladom Ukrains'koho Natsional'noho Obiednannia Kanady, 1939. Octavo (21 × 14 cm). Original staple-stitched pictorial self-wrappers; 31 pp. Fine.

First and only edition of this brochure, which aims to expose Stalin's "Red" Russia as an extremely anti-democratic state and inhuman dictatorship. It describes the Ukrainian People's Republic, a most democratic state, as the first victim of the Comintern, the Third International (1919–1943), which aimed to overthrow all foreign bourgeois governments and replacing all states with an international Soviet confederation. Much of the pamphlet is also dedicated to a discussion of Ukrainian organizations in Canada and their fight against the various foreign agents of the Bolshevik state, in particular UNO, the Ukrainian National Union (Ukrain'ske Natsional'ne Obiednannia). With seven striking lino- or woodcut caricatures aimed at Stalin and the Communist Party, four of them full page (unattributed, possibly by the author). As of August 2019, KVK and OCLC show copies at Alberta, Yale, Harvard, BAC-LAC, Toronto, Minnesota, UCLA, and Monash. Book ID: P5970
