Ferri Moderni: Idee e Schizzi. Silvio Gambini.

Ferri Moderni: Idee e Schizzi.

35 lithographic plates reproducing ornamental wrought iron designs by the important Art Nouveau (stile Liberty) architect Silvio Gambini, primarily for outdoor elements including gates, fences, doors, lamps, and windows, in an organic, floral style characteristic of Art Nouveau, while incorporating more restrained and geometric patterns that would eventually become Italian Deco. Plates loose as issued, some lightly toned, title page with minor transfer stains from the orig. boards. 4to. Decorative boards portfolio with cloth ties, sunned, splitting and chipping at spine. Milan (Leonardo Preiss) ca. 1910-1913.

Gambini was active in Milan from 1900 until his death in 1948. He was closely associated with the master blacksmith Alessandro Mazzucotelli, known as an early advocate of Art Nouveau decorative arts. The portfolio predates Gambini's later involvement with Futurism in the mid-teens. Book ID: 48027
