Psyclone. The Magazine Money Can't Buy. Vol. II, No. 1 (February 1977) through unnumbered issue (June 1977).

Three issues of a probable four total published of the first-wave punk zine (February, March, and June 1977), each issue approx. 40 pages, published by Jerry Paulsen, featuring photographs and articles regarding The Nuns, John Cale, U.K. Punk, Genesis, Blondie, The Planets, The Ramones, The Kinks, theater, art, film, fashion, poetry, bondage, record reviews, classified ads, and calendars of events. Profusely illustrated throughout, primarily from black and white photographs. Folio. Original pictorial newsprint wrpps. Some minor soiling and wear to edges, pencil notation to back cover of one issue, overall excellent. San Francisco 1977.

Jerry Paulsen helped to jump start the punk scene in the Bay Area in 1976 by booking the first punk bands at Mabuhay Gardens. After the first few shows, owner Ness Aquino entered an agreement to have rock promoter and television producer Dirk Dirksen book punk and new wave bands at the nightclub. It soon became a premier venue for punk rock in San Francisco during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many early punk and new wave bands performed there, including Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, The Avengers, Butthole Surfers, Patti Smith, Devo, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Hüsker Dü, The Cramps, and Metallica, among others. Very scarce; as of February 2018, WorldCat shows only a single institutional holding in the United States. Sources have informed us that an additional issue (presumably Vol. I, No. 1) was published in November 1976, although we could not find any records of this issue. Book ID: 48830
