Collection of 73 flyers documenting assorted performances from the influential Texas hardcore punk band, Big Boys, the performances taking place mainly within Texas but also with some flyer examples from out-of-state shows in California and Washington D.C., for concerts where the Big Boys headlined, played with, or opened for other acts, including The Dicks, Butthole Surfers, Black Flag, Toxic Shock, Social Unrest, The Judy's, The Jitters, New Torpedoes, Huns, Terminal Mind, Circle Jerks, The Sluts, Radio Planets, Derelicts, and many others, venues include Raul's, Soap Creek Saloon, Austin College Student Center, Rock Island, Perkins Palace, The Vault, Studio 29, Continental Club, Consolidated Arts Warehouse, and Doox. Illustrated. All printed by photocopy or offset lithograph from collage and holograph, some with handwritten additions in marker. Some scattered tears and losses, overall very good. Ranging in size from 2-3/4" x 8-1/2" to 11" x 17". Loose as issued, currently housed in modern black plastic portfolio with protective plastic album sleeves. Various cities, 1980-1986.

The Big Boys are arguably one of the most important punk bands of the 1980's and one of the first skate punk groups. They were also the first punk band to introduce funk rhythms and sounds, influencing later acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were fronted by Randy J. "Biscuit" Turner, a pioneering gay performer noted for challenging gender norms, often performing in drag or costumes such as a pink tutu. Turner was also a visual artist who helped design many of the flyers in this collection. Turner's performance style and sexuality, as well as the band's use of horns and funk sounds challenged the pre-established and expected norms of a hardcore punk band. Book ID: 48979
