Czech sympathies for the Spanish cause were very high - approximately 1500 Czech soldiers fought against General Franco’s army as part of the International Brigades, a group of largely Soviet-mobilized foreign troops that totaled nearly 32,000 members. This portfolio is the scarce limited bibliophile edition, with three original prints. The other contributors include leading leftist writers and poets, as well as Helena Malí ová, an important Czech communist and women’s rights activist, as well as a founding member of the Czech Communist Party. Very scarce; as of December 2018, WorldCat locates only a single holding of this portfolio in a North American institution. Book ID: 48989
