Beautiful and rare portfolio of 45 original mounted lithographs featuring modern, mostly botanical-inspired designs for textiles, edited and compiled by Georg Bresser, lacking title sheet and possibly a list of names of the designers and artists whose work is featured here. 4to. Original tie-bound paper boards portfolio, title label affixed to front cover, some minor dust-staining, wear along linen spine. Berlin-Charlottenburg (Werkbild-Verlag) 1931.
Not much is known about Georg Bresser, although he is said to have been a member of the Deutsche Werkstätten and to have exhibited wallpaper designs at the 1925 Biennale at Monza (Bergfelder, Set Design in 1930s European Cinema). He also appeared in the early 1920's as a representative for the German fashion industry in the publication Styl, presenting designs for upholstery, carpets, and curtains. Inventory no. 129 in the Charles Rahn Fry Pochoir Collection at the Princeton University Library. A stunning collection of designs; scarce institutionally. Book ID: 49050
