Samuel Feijóo was a Cuban writer, painter, and illustrator, a promoter of the popular artists movement in Las Villas, Cuba, and after 1969 the vice-president of the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) in Las Villas. He served as founder and director of the journals Signos and Islas and was also friends with Jean Dubuffet and filmaker Robert Altmann, and a major figure in the intellectual and artistic life of Cuba during his life.
