A nearly complete run in 46 issues (lacking the last 4 issues of 1933; note that the issues from September and October 1932 are bound out of order) of the interwar period German cultural journal, bound in four continuously paginated volumes (276, 492, and 140 pp.), under the editorial direction of Heinrich F.A. Timm, with contributions across a range of topics in contemporary culture such as music, literature, architecture, theater, sport, urban planning, and fine arts. Illustrated throughout from photographs. 4to. Cloth-backed marbled boards, original illustrated wrpps. bound in. Some minor rubbing and abrasion, slight edgewear. Leipzig, 1929-1933.
Although the design of this journal was stylistically based on “Das Neue Frankfurt” (The New Frankfurt), its range was broader. Commenting on the founding of the new journal, the editor noted: “The altered affairs of today inevitably demand a new attitude toward things. With each new day, the city is faced with new problems. Leipzig can hardly be an exception in this regard […] whether it be in the field of architecture, traffic, the visual and performing arts, music, university life, urban planning or wherever else.” Incredibly scarce; as of July 2019, WorldCat does not locate a single holding in a North American institution.
